AMERICAN CANYON, Calif. — A proposed Class I trail along Green Island Road has reached the public-construction procurement process, a step toward improving options for walking and cycling in a corridor shared with motor vehicles.
What the bid documents describe
The City of American Canyon’s official online planroom lists a Green Island Road Class I Trail project with an engineer’s estimate of $1,193,000. Proposed work includes earthmoving, a new Class I trail, construction traffic controls, stormwater pollution protections, signs, pavement markings, repairs to adjoining pavement and improvements involving sidewalks, curbs and accessibility ramps.
A Class I trail is intended to provide a separated path for people bicycling and walking, rather than relying entirely on a lane shared with cars. Exact connections and access arrangements should be confirmed from the final engineering plans.
When were bids due?
The city planroom lists October 22, 2026, at 2 p.m. as the updated bid date. Earlier public solicitations included October 8, and the later date appears in the current planroom and after an addendum. Both are now in the past.
The closing of bids does not itself prove that a contractor has been awarded the job or that crews are already working on Green Island Road. Residents should await the city’s award and construction notices before assuming that access or traffic will change on a specific day.
Where to verify the next stage
The official project page includes plans and procurement information. It identifies city project contact Ron Ranada, 707-647-4559. Future City Council agendas and Public Works construction updates may confirm award, start dates and impacts.
